Mag Guide

A mag is the little floating companion that boosts your stats, powers your Photon Blasts, and (at high levels) can heal or shield you. This guide covers which mag to raise for your character, how mags work, and every mag on this server and how to get it. All 76 base-game mags are obtainable here through normal play.

Which mag should I raise?

It comes down to two builds. Melee and gun classes (all Hunters and Rangers) want a POW mag for raw damage; Forces want a MIND mag to power techniques. A little DEX (~45) helps weapon special attacks land, and you almost always keep DEF at its minimum of 5. Every mag stat converts to a character stat at a fixed rate: 1 POW = +2 ATP, 1 MIND = +2 MST, 1 DEX = +0.5 ATA, 1 DEF = +1 DFP.

Notes
HUmarMale Hunter5 / 150 / 45 / 0POW magDeva or RatiPure melee — POW is your damage, ~45 DEX lands weapon specials. A great 2nd mag is a MIND mag so you can cast Resta / Jellen / Zalure.
HUnewearlFemale Hunter5 / 150 / 45 / 0POW magSavitriPOW mag for damage, but she has real technique access, so a MIND 2nd mag (5/0/45/150) is genuinely useful for support.
HUcastMale Hunter (android)5 / 145 / 50 / 0POW magDeva or RatiLowest accuracy of the hunters, so lean on DEX — power means nothing if you miss. Never raise MIND (androids can’t cast).
HUcasealFemale Hunter (android)5 / 150 / 45 / 0POW magSavitriGood native accuracy, so she can trade DEX for more POW (e.g. 30/150/20/0). Never raise MIND.
RAmarMale Ranger5 / 150 / 45 / 0POW magPushanGun damage from POW, DEX for special shots. A light MIND 2nd mag is optional for utility techs.
RAmarlFemale Ranger5 / 150 / 45 / 0POW magRukmin or DiwariBest technique access among rangers, so a MIND 2nd mag is worthwhile; the POW mag stays primary.
RAcastMale Ranger (android)5 / 150 / 45 / 0POW magPushanHigh HP and range; pure POW with DEX for specials. Never raise MIND.
RAcasealFemale Ranger (android)5 / 195 / 0 / 0POW magRukmin or DiwariHighest accuracy in the game, so DEX on the mag is optional — pour it all into POW. Never raise MIND.
FOmarMale Force5 / 0 / 45 / 150MIND magNidraMIND powers your techniques. FOmar has the best Force melee, so a POW mag (5/150/45/0) is a valid hybrid for weapon play.
FOmarlFemale Force5 / 0 / 45 / 150MIND magSato or BhimaCaster — MST for techniques, ~45 DEX to land special-attack weapons.
FOnewmMale Force5 / 0 / 45 / 150MIND magNidraHighest MST in the game — a pure MIND mag maximizes technique damage.
FOnewearlFemale Force5 / 0 / 45 / 150MIND magSato or BhimaTop caster/support; keep ~45 DEX so instant-kill and TP-steal special weapons connect.
On every mag, try to learn Mylla & Youlla (the "Twins" Photon Blast — party Shifta + Deband). Add Golla or Pilla on melee mags, and Leilla (Resta) on Force mags. The "Trophy mag" column is the rare Lv 100 mag your character naturally evolves into if you balance its stats — see Rare mags. Androids (HUcast, HUcaseal, RAcast, RAcaseal) can’t use techniques, so they never raise MIND.

How evolution works

Feeding raises a mag’s four stats — DEF, POW, DEX, MIND. A mag’s level is just the sum of those four (max 200). At certain levels it evolves, and which stat is highest — plus your class and Section ID — decides what it becomes.

Base Mag  →  Lv 10 (by class)  →  Lv 35 (by highest stat)

Hunter → Varuna

  • POWRudra
  • DEXMarutah
  • MINDVayu

Ranger → Kalki

  • DEXMitra
  • POWSurya
  • MINDTapas

Force → Vritra

  • MINDNamuci
  • POWSumba
  • DEXAshvinau

Each of those first two evolutions also grants a Photon Blast. From Lv 50 on the mag keeps branching — by class, stat balance, and Section ID:

Lv 50 — class + top stat

  • Branches into the wider family (Varaha, Kama, Garuda, Naga…).
  • Section ID and stat balance pick the exact result.
  • This is the 3rd (and last automatic) Photon Blast.

Lv 100 — rare mags

  • With balanced stats a Lv 100+ mag can become a rare: Sato, Nidra, Deva, Rati, Savitri, Rukmin, Pushan, Diwari, Bhima.
  • See Rare mags.

Cells — special mags

  • Rare cell items transform a mag directly (Chao, RoboChao, the SEGA-console mags…).
  • See Cell mags.
A mag can evolve up to four times, so plan the whole path before you start feeding — you can never remove a stat level once it’s gained. Keep DEF at 5 unless a guide says otherwise.

Stats & feeding

Each stat is raised by feeding specific items. The exact amounts change with the mag’s evolution stage, but the direction is consistent:

StatGives youFeed to raise it
POW+2 ATP (melee & gun damage)Monomate / Dimate / Trimate
MIND+2 MST (technique power)Monofluid / Difluid / Trifluid
DEX+0.5 ATA (accuracy & weapon specials)Antidote / Antiparalysis
DEF+1 DFP (defense)Creeps up from Tri-mates/fluids — usually kept at 5
Avoid Trimate and Trifluid while you’re keeping DEF low — they raise DEF as a side-effect. A mag never raises a stat past your character’s own natural maximum. Star Atomizers are the best food for topping up Synchro and IQ (below).

Synchro (max 120%)

  • Fills your Photon Blast gauge faster and boosts PB damage.
  • Raises the chance your mag’s auto-abilities fire.
  • You lose 5% each time you die — keep it topped up, and it’s preserved while banked.

IQ (max 200)

  • Sets the level of the Shifta/Deband/Resta your mag casts.
  • Makes auto-abilities fire more reliably.
  • Climbs steadily as you feed — it rarely needs babysitting.

Color

  • Set once, from your costume color at character creation, and permanent.
  • It carries through every evolution and even when traded.
  • Box-found baby mags get a random color.

Photon Blasts

A mag stores energy in the PB gauge as you deal and take damage; at 100% you can unleash a Photon Blast. A mag learns one PB at each of its first three evolutions (Lv 10 / 35 / 50), so it holds up to three. The Lv 10 one is fixed by class (Hunter → Farlla, Ranger → Estlla, Force → Leilla); the rest follow which forms you evolve into, so PB planning is evolution planning.

Photon BlastTypeEffectBest for
Mylla & YoullaSupportCasts Shifta + Deband on the whole party — the game’s best buff.Everyone
LeillaSupportCasts Resta (heal) on chained players.Forces
GollaDamageConcentrated single-target hit — highest raw damage.Hunters / Rangers
PillaDamageAerial area-of-effect; strong all-rounder.Hunters / Rangers
FarllaDamageSpinning area-of-effect around you (weaker).Melee (early)
EstllaDamageLinear strike in front; scales off EVP.Niche
Mylla & Youlla is the most valuable PB in the game. In a party, players fire PBs in a chain of up to four — a full Mylla & Youlla chain stacks Shifta/Deband up to around Lv 81. Two of the same PB can’t fire back-to-back, and teammates can "donate" gauge to boost yours.

Separately, mags fire auto-abilities on their own — depending on the mag, a burst of invincibility, Shifta & Deband, Resta, or a Reverser revive — triggered when the PB gauge fills, on entering a boss room, when your HP drops low, or on death. Which effects a mag has (and on which triggers) is fixed by its type; on this server, most evolved mags also carry a Reverser that revives you on death. These auto-abilities are the main reason certain rare mags are chased.

Rare mags (Lv 100)

Once a mag is Lv 100+, it can transform into a rare mag when it crosses a level that is a multiple of 10 — if its stats are balanced and your class, gender and Section ID match. "Balanced" means one pair of stats equals the other pair; which pair depends on your Section ID:

Viridia · Bluefull · Redria · Whitill

  • POW + MIND = DEF + DEX

Greenill · Purplenum · Oran

  • POW + DEX = DEF + MIND

Skyly · Pinkal · Yellowboze

  • POW + DEF = DEX + MIND

Your class and gender then decide which rare you get:

Trick: a 25 / 25 / 25 / 25 mag at Lv 100 satisfies every equation, so it’s the easy "just evolve it" build. To aim a specific rare, balance the equation at Lv 99, then feed the final level while playing the required class — you can even hand the mag to a friend of the right class/ID for that last feed. Rare mags are terminal (they won’t evolve again, and cells won’t work on them).

Why chase them? Each has a fixed auto-ability. The Invincibility mags (Sato, Nidra, Soniti) give a burst of damage immunity — prized for survivability, and Sato is the community’s favorite trophy for its look. The Shifta/Deband + Resta mags (Rati, Savitri, Deva, Rukmin, Pushan, Diwari) self-buff and self-heal — especially valuable for androids, who can’t cast those techniques themselves.

Every mag on this server

All 76 base-game mags. The evolution mags below come from feeding and leveling; the cell mags come from special items.

Special mags (cells)

Each of these comes from using a cell item on an equipped mag. On this server every cell drops from boxes and enemies across all difficulties, so all of them are obtainable by playing.

Not available here

These mags turn up on other servers (or sit unused in the game data) but you can’t obtain them here. They’re listed for reference so you know why they’re missing.

Why they’re unavailable: Elenor is in the game data but has no cell or evolution path on this server. Sonic, Stealth, Mag*, Kalki*, Varuna*, Vritra*, Present* and Saraswati are Ephinea-exclusive additions — not part of base Blue Burst, so there’s no cell or evolution for them here. (The asterisk mags are cosmetic reskins, distinct from the base Kalki / Varuna / Vritra mags this server does have.)
